The recently launched $75 million Pre-STEP is working to enhance the quality of basic education in Pakistan through improved teacher education by strengthening the institutions that provide pre-service teacher education. The program is directly impacts the new and practicing teachers by helping them gain revised and upgraded teacher qualifications.
Strenghtening Teacher Education in Pakistan

Working to establish a national policy on teachers' professional development in Pakistan. Recently, the Government of Pakistan's Education Ministry, Pakistan has identified National Professional Standards for Teachers which were developed by the STEP program in consultation with different stakeholders. During the next few months, the program will focus in the development of a national framework for the accreditation and licensing of teachers.
