In the third novel the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck is a young man who goes adventure with Jim a run away slave Jim escapes n the course of their trip and Huck dedicate all his efforts to finding him showing how different he was from the racist community he lived among since Jim was a black slave and he was a white man. (Twain, 1884)
There are various themes that are evident in the novel. The theme of tradition is portrayed. Levs parents follow the tradition of Judaism and Lev want to follow the tradition of art. The two themes conflict as the parents are not ready to accept the tradition of Lev hence the conflict. The theme of irony is also depicted when Levs father refuses to allow Lev to study art because of his religion where he travels for Rebbe. It is ironic that it is Rebbe who finally intercedes and Levs father allows him to study art as long as he would be taught by the great artist Jacob Kahn. (Potok , 1972)
The theme of grief is portrayed in the novel .My name is Asher Lev where the author introduces Asher’s mother who ha been traumatized by the death of her brother in his traveling mission for Rebbe. The death had occurred when Asher was a child and she had mourned him all the times. She was always in grief because she feared for his husband’s life that the same thing that happened to his brother would happen to him. It is when Lev paints an image to symbolize his grieving mother that leads to the conflict between him and his parent and he is forced to leave to avoid hurting his parents. (Potok , 1972)
